Casual Advocats is founded from the merger of the long established law practices of Marta Lagarda and Bernat Dotú with the vision of creating a new law firm concept, away from conventional stereotypes surrounding the world of justice, Law and lawyers.
We have devised a serious and rigorous law office, made up of accomplished professionals with proven experience and reputation. We are committed to serve our clients in a warm, honest, empathetic and assertive way.
At Casual Advocats we work closely with our clients. We provide assistance and guidance in identifying real and optimal solutions, for them and their business. Our relationship with our clients is that of a true partnership and moves away from the traditional conception of an attorney. We are committed to find the right solutions together with our clients while providing support, protection and consultation.
Bernat obtained his Law Degree from Universitat Central de Barcelona, taking his degree’s last year at UK LEUVEN (Belgium). He lectured at the Master in Banking Law at the Universitat de Barcelona and was Adjunct Lecturer on Catalan Civil Law at the Universitat Abat Oliva (Barcelona) during the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. He has been working as a lawyer since 1999 joining the Barcelona Bar Association. He is a specialist in civil law, focusing on Judicial and Arbitration civil proceedings. He has conducted several legal proceedings in all areas of private law, providing his services to individuals, entities (foundations, associations, etc.) as well as private companies.
More recently, due to the consequences derived from specific commercialised banking products, he has led a large number of proceedings against bank entities (subordinated debentures, convertible bonds, swaps , “floor” and “roof” clauses, out-of-court settlements...). During the last years he has been also working in real estate intermediation, buying and selling real properties as buildings, hotels, plots, etc.
He is an entrepreneurial, dynamic and honest person. He likes to be in close contact with his clients and loves the pressure of the courtrooms.
He speaks fluent English.
Marta obtained her Law degree from Universitat de Girona in 1997. She gained a Master’s degree in business law at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona in 1998. She spent five years training at the law firm Roca Junyent before starting her own legal practice, which she has managed for the last years. Marta Lagarda is passionate about business law. She is specialized and has deep expertise in corporate insolvencies, insolvency proceedings, corporate transactions and commercial contracts. In addition, Marta has built extensive knowledge in strategic business management which she continuous to build upon at ESADE, EADA and IESE business schools in order to find optimal solutions for her clients. During the last years he has been also working in large-scale real estate purchases duly authorised by the Catalan Register of estate agents. Member of the Insolvency Law Section of the Barcelona Bar Association.
She is a decisive, proactive and empathetic person with strong creativity that enables her to find her clients the best solutions for their legal matters.
She speaks fluent English and French.
